Dangote Refinery Acknowledged for Transformative Social Initiatives in Ibeju Lekki Communities

The Committee of Baales and residents of Ibeju Lekki in Lagos State have expressed their profound gratitude to the Management of Dangote Refinery for their impactful social responsibility endeavors. The communities lauded the company’s commitment to enhancing their well-being by providing essential infrastructure and empowering their youth.

In a significant development, Dangote Refinery undertook the vital task of rehabilitating entrance roads for the 15 host communities. Through grading, sand filling, and stone base application, the roads were restored, enabling residents to access their homes without navigating through waterlogged areas. This effort has been a tremendous relief for the communities, which comprise Idasho, Ilekuru, Okeyanta, Magbon-Segun, Okesegun, Itoke, Idotun, Alasia, Okunraiye, Lekki towns, Imobido, Tiye, Mosa, Ilege, and Olomowewe.

Chief Mufutau Dauda, the Baale of Magbon-Segun, expressed his admiration for Aliko Dangote’s contributions and efforts. He highlighted Dangote’s support in educating local children within the refinery premises, where they successfully passed Level 1 and Level 2 examinations for City and Guilds certification in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. Dauda also praised the provision of boreholes and generators for the communities, with plans to upgrade the boreholes to solar power. He emphasized that Dangote’s generosity was indeed extraordinary.

Baale Shakiru Bello of Okeyanta echoed similar sentiments, noting the sustainability of Dangote’s scholarship scheme for secondary and tertiary institution students. He marveled at the increasing number of beneficiaries each year, applauding the company’s unwavering commitment to education.

Akinola Yinusa from Okesegun community recounted the manifold benefits brought by the refinery. He shared that his younger brother and daughter were positively impacted by the company, as his brother works at the refinery and his daughter received a scholarship. Yinusa emphasized the positive ripple effect within the community and expressed his support for Dangote Refinery’s continued efforts.

S.A. Adeyemi, another community leader, hailed Dangote Refinery’s remarkable endeavors in enhancing the host communities. He acknowledged the impressive social performance profile of the company while urging them to persist in their transformative initiatives.

As the Committee of Baales and residents extend their gratitude, they also call upon Dangote Refinery to maintain its momentum in creating job opportunities for qualified local graduates, particularly those from the Lekki Free Trade Zone. The community leaders unanimously conveyed their hope for an enduring partnership and more positive contributions to come.
