Department of Mass Communication, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Calls For Partnership And Support On The Upcoming 25 Years Silver Jubilee Celebration

Department of Mass Communication, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka has called for stronger partnership and support towards the upcoming 25th Anniversary of the department.

A delegation made up of students of the department alongside representatives of the Alumni, made this known during a courtesy visit to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Dr. Uche Nworah at the station’s headquarters in Awka.

The anniversary celebration scheduled for Thursday, June 10th, 2021 will serve as an opportunity to honour an array of role models and contributors to the success of the department, society and mankind. It will also feature the launch of the Alumni magazine, as well as mark the Maiden Alumni Homecoming of the department which began in 1996.

Speaking, the Head Of Department of the institution, Professor Chinwe Uzochukwu commended the management team of the ABS for the great transformation that has given the station a wilder audience and voice, thus the visit to seek stronger partnership and collaboration towards projecting tthe essence celebration geared towards publicising the homecoming activities of the department.

Responding, Dr. Nworah who spoke through, the Director, News and Current Affairs of the station, Mr Gab Okpalaeze welcomed the delegates, commending them for their good plans which clearly points towards a huge and successful event and re-emphasized the support of the station towards positive events and programmes that will be of good benefit to the society.

Dr. Nworah, encouraged and assured the department of the station’s unalloyed support.

In a vote of thanks, the Chairman of the Silver Jubilee Publicity planning sub Committee, Dr. Henry Duru thanked the station for it’s dedication in projecting the university, and appreciated the staff of the ABS for their hardwork and professionalism.

Among the delegation were, Dr. Njideka Onyejiaku, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, Dr Obiora Edogor, Mrs Kobimdi Umeh, Mrs Chinwe Okoyeocha, Mrs Chigozie Chukwuleta alongside some students of the department. Some members of the management team of the ABS, notably the Director of Programme Mrs. Nneka Ekwunife, and Mrs. Uju Ifediba who represented Mrs Beatrice Akwanamnye, the Director of Commercials witnessed the visit.
