Drainage Blockage: Enugu Govt Embarks On Remedial Works At Akwatta

Following the erosion that affected the embankment protective works at Akwatta, in Enugu North Local Government Area, which was caused by blockage of drainages, the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has announced its decision to immediately commence remedial and stabilization works at the site.

In a statement by the State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Greg Nnaji, the Ministry disclosed that the interventions will include desilting and evacuation of debris and refuse that blocked the drainage channels.

Engr. Nnaji, who urged residents of Enugu State to desist from dumping refuse on drainages and waterways, reassured them that the state government “will remain committed to the maintenance of our infrastructure at all times”.
