WHY DSS STOPPED AMERICAN LAWYER, MR. BRUCE FEIN A FOREMOST AMERICAN TRAINED CONSTITUTIONAL LAW LAWYER, OTHERS FROM VISITING MAZI NNAMDI KANU!
03/09/21
The leader of the Pro-Biafra group, IPOB Mazi Nnamdi KANU was arrested, extradition to Nigeria as Biafra separatist
He was taken to court on the 27th June 2021, his arrest was through the combined efforts of the Nigerian security agencies and Interpol.
The Federal court in Abuja ordered that he should be detained at the DSS facility and he has been under the custody of the DSS since July 20th.
I, wish to condemn in strong terms the DSS for not allowing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu American Lawyer to have access to him, it is his fundamental right to gain access to his lawyers at all times, more so when a visiting days arrangements was scheduled, and both parties agreed to terms accordingly.
It is extremely ridiculous, unacceptable and regrettable that such a thing is happening at a time when the security agency should be applying global best practice and good sense of judgment in dealing with issues like this.
The DSS reasons that the personnel in-charge of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s visiting documentations was unavoidably absence at the time of arrival is bogus outrightly unacceptable, workflow must be continuous.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is not an ordinary fellow, he deserves all the legal assistance as possible, he should be allowed to see his families and his legal team as at schedules with dates, it is inhuman to deprive him of his fundamentals.
The DSS should act within the framework of the court’s arrangements, they must respect his wish and remove all unnecessary bottlenecks that will hinder access to his lawyers at all times as long as he remains in their custody.
