Essential Ndubuisi
The leading governorship aspirant for the November 6 governorship election, Uche Ekwunife, was on Sunday, April 4, 2021, honoured with another meritorious award of “outstanding performance” for her enormous contributions to humanity and nation building.
The award which was presented to Ekwunife by the Nri Ekunie Age Grade, Akampkisi chapter, Nri was part of their way of celebrating men and women who have distinguished themselves and contributed to the development of the nation.
Speaking at the event, Ekwunife who was represented by PDP Chairman Nri ward II, Mr. Chijioke Okonkwo expressed gratitude for being a recipient of the award. She pledged to continue to use every opportunity given to her for the betterment of the society. Ekwunife noted that the plaque would serve as a reminder not to rest on her laurels. She re-assured that her constituents would continue to enjoy the best of her legislative engagements.
The Igbo-Ukwu born Senator reiterated her desire in seeing women take their due place in the polity. She however calls for more women to indicate interest in politics.
Meanwhile, the organizer of the event stated that the award was conferred on Ekwunife after their appraisal and report of her activities on the floor of the senate as well as impact in the society.
