The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife (Iyom), Friday, May 21, 2021, in company of the former deputy governor of Anambra state, HE Chief Abolle Okoyeagu and members of her campaign organization joined the entire Umumpama Aborji village Oba, Idemili South LGA, Anambra state to bid farewell to late Hon. Barr. (Mrs) Ebele Ejikeme.
Late Hon. Barr. Ejikeme was until her death a renowned legal practitioner. She was a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the International Bar Association, the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), and the African Women Lawyers Association. Late Hon. Barr Ejikeme was a close friend and dedicated supporter of Senator Ekwunife.
The funeral service which was held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church Umumpama Aborji village Oba had in attendance dignitaries from across the state notably was the wife of the governor of Anambra state, Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano ably represented by the Commissioner for women and children affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue and the member representing Anaocha Constituency I in the state assembly, Hon. Ebele Ejiofor, the traditional ruler of Umunya, HRH Igwe Sir Kris Onyekwuluje amongst others.
Delivering the sermon, Revd. Celestine Mgbachi said that humans are akin to seeds planted by God to bear fruits and can be harvested any time. He charged all to live a good life while they sojourn.
In her condolence message, Ekwunife noted that she led members of her campaign organization to identify with the deceased family in their moment of grief. She described the late Ejikeme as a vibrant, energetic and kindhearted woman – a mother, teacher, lawyer and an entrepreneur, saying that her death created a huge vacuum in the lives of many who benefitted from her very kind spirit. She reminded all that the reason for living is to impact positively on humanity. Ekwunife prayed God to comfort the family over the great loss.
Responding, the first child of the deceased, His Worship Chike O. Emeka Esq. (JP) thanked Ekwunife for sparing time to bid farewell to their mother. He appreciated the Senator for showing special concern towards the family since they lost their mother, stating that Ekwunife was the first to visit their home when their mother died. He prayed God to reward her abundantly and make all her aspirations come through.
Ekwunife on behalf of her family and campaign organization extended condolences to the entire family of the deceased.
