Known for her unique personality of always identifying with humanity, the Senator representing Anambra Central, Uche Ekwunife, has recently congratulated Prof. Charles Esimone as he was honoured in Awkaeze, Anambra state.
The historic reception which had in attendance the traditional ruler of Akwaeze, HRM Igwe Christopher Okpala, was part of the festivity that marked 2020 Uruolu Village Day, Prof. Esimone’s village, and one of the six villages that make up Awkaeze community.
Recall that Prof. Charles Esimone was on May 14, 2020, appointed as the 6th substantive Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra state. The appointment was upon the expiration tenure of Prof. Joseph Eberendu Ahaneku.
During the event, the Performing Senator noted with rapture that she was very glad and delighted to be part of the celebration.
Speaking, Senator Uche Ekwunife had the best superlatives, describing the Professor as one of the finest.
“We are very blessed to have him, not just as a Professor, Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University but my constituent.
“I know that the transformation he will bring to bay in Nnamdi Azikiwe University will last for ages.”
Professor Charles Esimone became a professor at a very young age, 37. And was the pioneer Dean of Faculty of Pharmaceutical sciences as well as former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) of the institution.
Speaking further, the Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology congratulated the Awkaeze community and organizers of the event. She, however, congratulated Prof. Charles Esimone on behalf of the Senatorial District.
The event which held on December 26, 2020, at Uruolu Civic Center had the highlights of the event as viz: Foundation laying ceremony of Ultra-Mordern Hall, Award of recognition to illustrious sons of Uruolu Village and Outing of Uruolu women cultural Dance.
In a similar vein, the Igbo-ukwu born Senator conveyed her birthday wishes to the Professor of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Microbiology in celebration of his golden jubilee birthday. She prayed for long life, many useful years on earth and more grace upon him and his family.
