Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom) has facilitated the installation of Solar Street Lights at strategic locations in some communities in Anambra Central Senatorial District.

The street light project which has been ongoing, has so far covered over 20 communities in the Senatorial District with more communities set to benefit from Senator Ekwunife’s Light Up Anambra Central Project which is targeted at electrifying important locations in the Senatorial District.

On Friday, December 18, 2020 the Anambra Central Zonal Project Monitoring committee led by the former commissioner for women affairs Anambra State, Lady Henrietta Agbata visited some of the project sites to commission some of the already functional street lights.

The communities visited by the team include, Okpuno, Isiagu, Agulu, Obeledu and Akwaeze etc.
Speaking during the visitation, Lady Henrietta Agbata stated that the Senator embarked on the Street Light Project to iluminate strategic locations in communities to improve movement of persons and commercial activities in villages and towns at night. She reiterated that Senator Ekwunife is fully committed to offering the constituency a representation that is purposeful and impactful, and urged Ndi Anambra Central to continue to remember the Senator in their prayers as she strives to deliver more dividends of democracy to the Senatorial District.

Some of the residents of the areas where the street lights were mounted expressed delight over Senator Ekwunife’s intervention. They noted that the street lights have boosted night life in their communities and have earned their businesses more patronage.
Other communities which also benefitted from the street light project include, Okpuno, Nise, Ugbenu, Ugbene, Isuaniocha, Amanuke, Ezinato, Awba-Ofemili, Ukwulu, Enugwu-Ukwu, Nri, Eziowelle, Aguluzigbo, Oraukwu, Alor, Ojoto, Abacha and Nnobi.
