Traditional Rulers in Anambra Central Senatorial District on Wednesday, 9th December 2020 attended a leadership and conflict management conference courtesy of Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom).
The conference which was organized by the Technology Incubation Centre, Enugu, an agency under the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology was geared towards resharpening the leadership skills of the traditional rulers.
Declaring the conference open, Senator Ekwunife thanked the traditional rulers for making out time to be part of the leadership programme. She noted that the programme provides an opportunity for the traditional rulers to learn how to improve their relationships with the various stakeholders in their communities.
Interacting further with the traditional rulers, Senator Ekwunife appreciated the Igwes for the very important roles they play in their communities as custodians of customs and traditions. She urged them to utilize the opportunity of the leadership conference to improve their leadership capacity and impact in their respective communities and reassured them of her desire to cooperate with the traditional institution to improve the developmental status of the Senatorial District.
In his presentation, Mr Uchenna Anioke, the Vice President, Communications and Strategy institute of Chartered Mediators and Counciliators (ICMC) stated that the role of Traditional Rulers is crucial to the development of communities and the society at large. He took the traditional rulers on steps to improve their managerial abilities and urged them be assertive but considerate while making decisions that effect their people.
Giving a vote of thanks, HRM Igwe Christopher Okpala, the Traditional Ruler of Akwaeze and the Chairman Anambra Central Council of Traditional Rulers described Senator Ekwunife as a special breed politician who has been exemplary in all her activities and engagements. He thanked her for availing the traditional rulers the opportunity to relearn some of strategies that will lead to effective conflict resolution and management in their various towns, and assured her of continued support of the traditional rulers in the Senatorial District.
Also present at the event was Mrs Thelma Ifeoma Nwabueze, Center Manager Technology Incubation Centre, Enugu and other staff of the centre. The ceremony ended with a presentation of certificates of participation to the Traditional Rulers.
Recall that Senator Ekwunife in line with her dedication to human capital development recently organized similar capacity building programmes for the Presidents General, Clergy, Women and Youths in Anambra Central Senatorial District.
