Ekwunife Is A Woman of Capacity And Competence – Obi

By Linus Chukwuma

While the last general elections have been won and lost, far and near the contracts between office-holders and the third estate are painstakingly undergoing rigorous scrutiny. The rise of political awareness by the public has kept politicians on their toes. In short, any underperforming would promptly receive the sledge on the polls in the coming elections.

It is beyond doubt that for too long, politicians have taken sway: siphoning our common patrimony. The redundant sneaky practice has birthed ruins in Nigeria’s social, infrastructure and economic fabrics. Just like the biblical Israelites, we do not want to continue in Egypt.

Then, though we are in festive period, however many are asking the right question irrespective of gaiety and fun the Yuletide presents.

Have your representatives presented their scorecard reports?

On Saturday, December 26, 2020, all the who is who in Anambra Senatorial District, gathered on the occasion of zonal briefing and scored Senator Uche Ekwunife. The A-grade Senator appraisal shows that the zone made the right choice.

While speaking, HE Peter Obi stated that he went to the Igbo-ukwu born Senator to adjure her to run for senate in PDP. He recalled that prior to the last general elections, the incumbent was not a member of the People’s Democratic Party. According to Obi, Senator Uche Ekwunife is a woman of capacity and competence.

“The problem of Nigeria”, Obi began “Cannot be solved by waiting for who to give you money during politics.

“It will be solved not by people whose time is past, but with capacity and competence.” Obi noted.

The preforming Senator who briefed the constituents on her sojourn so far in the upper chamber amongst which laudable achievements are viz: free medical outreach in 58 communities, rehabilitation of schools and about eight have been completed, ongoing 27 roads construction presently within the zone, facilitated more than 125 employment to help reduce rate of unemployment, distribution of educational materials in 131 schools. That’s in spite of, distribution of Covid 19 relief materials in the wake of first wave of the pandemic, distribution of 66 tricycles and entrepreneurial development and skills acquisition. The list can go on and on but not to be omitted are building of houses, 3 bedroom bungalow for the less privileged, leadership and conflict management for Ndi Igwe as well as very important bills and motions the Chairman senate committee on Science and Technology has sponsored. Even the Nirsal Microfinance Bank loan – single-digit interest loan – mainly for people greatly affected by the novel virus.

The visually proud Obi was later to say that senators from Central are always hardworking. On the list includes High Chief Sen Ben Obi.

On his remarks, Sen Ben Obi while addressing journalists thundered that, Senator Uche Ekwunife has done very well, in every opportunity given to her, she has excelled. So there is nothing stopping her if the people of Anambra give her their mandate. I’m sure she will do very well.

HE Peter Obi, however, went down the memory lane of how his melodious relationship with persons like Sen Ben Obi and ors -though as an Apga governor – the ruling party in state helped to see that refund of the federal roads he embarked upon were seamless. Obi equally urged that all will work hard to see that this state [Anambra state] and Nigeria will change.

Senator Uche Ekwunife looks like whatever is called complacency is very far from her, during the zonal briefing promised that more projects and excellent representation awaits Anambra Central, and by extension Anambra state.
