Ekwunife, Obi other dignitaries mourn Chike Amobi

Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom), the Former Governor of Anambra State and Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections, His Excellency, Mr Peter Obi and a host of other dignitaries on Thursday, 10th December 2020 attended the burial ceremony of Dr Chike Amobi (Ezekwesili Eziowelle) who was until his death, the Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Ekwunife.

Ekwunife joined family, friends and well wishers of her Late Aide at St Edward Catholic Church, Eziowelle to pay her last respect to the late legal luminary and quintessential community leader.

In his homily, the officiating Bishop, the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke described Late Dr Amobi as a treasure. He noted that the deceased was a hardworking and resourceful man who will be sorely missed by all. Speaking further, Archbishop Okeke prayed God to grant Late Dr Chike Amobi eternal rest in his bossom.

After the mass, the Senator, her beloved husband, Chief Larry Ekwunife (Ochendo) and other members of her campaign organization paid a special condolence visit to the Amobi family at Eziowelle Civic Centre where a reception was held in honour of the deceased.

In her condolence speech to the family, Ekwunife noted that Chike was a man of distinct character. She described him as a jolly good fellow, a generous soul, a fine lawyer and a man whose honesty and humility cut across societal class.

She further noted that Dr Amobi’s demise is a huge loss to her political family, Amobi family, Eziowelle community, Anambra Central Senatorial District and the Legal Profession. She prayed God to accept his soul and give his loving family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Mr Tochukwu Amobi who spoke on behalf of the family appreciated the Senator for the essential role she played in Chike’s life. He noted that the Senator stood firm in support for Chike through his time of illness and eventual death, and went on to play an important role in ensuring that his burial was a success. He prayed God to reward Senator Ekwunife abundantly and replenish her, her friends and supporters in folds.

Also at the event were, the Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka, Member Representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon Obinna Chidoka, PDP Governorship Aspirants, Mr Val Ozigbo, Hon. Amb. Ike Oliobi and Chief Ugochukwu Okeke (Enyioha), amongst others.
