Ekwunife’s Guber Ambition Receives Another Boost As PDP Anambra South Stakeholders Adopt Her As Candidate

—Describe Her As A Woman With Exceptional Leadership Ability

With the Anambra gubernatorial election slated to hold November 6, the aspiration of Senator Uche Ekwunife has gained a huge boost as the PDP Anambra South Stakeholders adopted the Senator as their preferred candidate.

Ekwunife’s adoption was the key decision reached at the party’s stakeholders meeting which was held on Sunday, May 23, 2021, at Nnewi Sports Club, Nnewi. The meeting was part of Ekwunife’s continuous engagement with critical stakeholders and party delegates in her bid to radically transform the state, if elected the next governor.

The meeting which was called at the instance of the former governor of the state, HE Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife was attended by notably founding members of the party, stakeholders and who is who from across the seven LGAs in the Anambra South Senatorial District.

The communiqué issued at the end of the meeting reads: “Having heard what our distinguished Senator has said and having followed her antecedents since 2007 and having understood and seen today that there is power in spoken words there is no second fiddle, we therefore having seen her realistic blueprint to move Anambra state forward, we the stakeholders from the seven LGAs formally endorse Senator Uche Ekwunife (from Igbo-Ukwu) as our preferred candidate to become the next governor of the state”.

The motion for adoption of Ekwunife was moved by Engr Alex Chukwunweike, a PDP delegate from Ogbunka Ward 1 and seconded by Nze Benard Ezeugbaja, a delegate from Ekwulobia Ward 1.

Similarly, women were not left out as the former Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Mrs. Bridget Obi conveyed the message of adoption that Ekwunife is the choice candidate of all the women in the Anambra South Senatorial District.

Speaking, Ekwunife thanked the stakeholders for their support, prayers and solidarity, adding that she enjoys dual indigenship as an aspirant. Ekwunife noted that she will be a governor that will simultaneously develop all the sectors of the state economy. The Senator noted that she has a well tailored, implementable blueprint that will aid her in bringing a positive change to the people of the state.

The Igbo-Ukwu born Senator while reeling out her achievements since her sojourn on the floor of the Senate assured that she will win the election for PDP if given the ticket. She said that not only is she coming onboard with huge experience and capacity in service delivery which is an edge over others, however her antecedents are unparalled. Ekwunife assured that her government will encourage women participation in politics, adding that she will have 40% women representation in her cabinet.

In his speech, the former governor of Anambra state, HE Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife who was represented by Barrister Ifeanyi Oli (Ezeakunwata Igbo-Ukwu) expressed satisfaction on the performance of Ekwunife as an A-grade lawmaker. He described Ekwunife as their beloved daughter who has through her antecedents shown capacity to pilot the affairs of the state.

While urging others to adopt Ekwunife as the party candidate, the former governor said his decision to adopt Ekwunife as a preferred candidate was borne out of her peerless achievements. According to him, Ekwunife will repeat the same feat if elected as the next governor of the state.

In their separate remarks, Chief Jude Osude (Oduah Igbo-Ukwu), Chief Dim Nna O Nnakifeh (Nnewi South Stakeholder who is the former old Anambra Anambra state Chairman of the National Republic Convention) and Prof Frank Anaeto described Ekwunife as an assiduous politician who has the interest of the the people of Anambra state at heart. They expressed delight at the outcome of the event, describing Ekwunife as a woman with exceptional and unique leadership abilities.

Among the dignitaries who graced the occasion include, the PDP State Secretary, Barr. C. J Okoli-Akrika, former PDP State Woman Leader, Mrs Ejimemo. Other notable stakeholders of the party present include, Chief Sabastine Ogumelu, Chief Dim Makaife, Dr Rose Nwankwo, Chief Alphonsus Oforke, Chief Eriobu Aeneas, Hon Enyi Okeke, Comrade Okey Nzebeafor, Dr Anuligo amongst others.
