Barely a month after the federal lawmaker representing the good people of Nnewi north, Nnewi south & Ekwusigo federal constituencies rounded up his 5th annual medical outreach that took place in three selected locations within his federal constituency, and for which 580 participants had successful surgeries, he has further proven his passionate drive in catering for the well-being of his constituents.
During a preliminary session that held yesterday in the Green chamber of the National Assembly, Engr Azubogu moved a motion, calling for a special security efforts on issues of Mr. Obiora Agbasimelo who has been in the kidnappers den since the past sixty-seven days and counting.
It could be recalled that, Mr Agbasimelo who was the governorship candidate for Labour Party in the just concluded Anambra gubernatorial election was kidnapped on Saturday 18th September, 2021 within Anambra State.
Concerned that nothing has been heard regarding the ordeals of his constituent, Mr Agbasimelo and other insecurity challenges bedevilling the South East as a whole, the workaholic legislator we fondly call Mr Project moved his motion titled, “Urgent Need to Look into Cases of Unresolved Kidnap/Insecurity in the South East/Anambra” on the floor of the house. While hearing his motion, the lawmakers noted and equally agreed with him that there have been a lot of cases of missing persons in the South East, particularly Anambra State.
The house, through the motion presented by Hon Azubogu, further observed the kidnap case of five (5) Engineers working with Malen Consultants in Effium, Ebonyi State. Those Engineers were kidnapped on 3rd November, 2021 and to this day, nothing has been heard of their ordeals in the hands of the armed men of the underworld.
Noting these cases of kidnap in addition to numerous other unresolved cases, the house agreed with Mr Project that such challenges seriously creates a high level sense of insecurity in the entire South East. The federal lawmakers also listened and nodded their heads in affirmation that these persons in captivity has families and loved ones who are already undergoing tragic emotional trauma caused by the disappearance of their breadwinners.
Being worried that if nothing palpable is urgently done to avert the challenges of insecurity in the region as well as provide hope for these families already agonized, Engr Azubogu prayed the house to urge security agencies such as DSS, Police, Civil Defence, and other security agencies to quickly get to the root of these unresolved cases and it was adopted.
He also prayed the house to mandate relevant Committees of the House to work with the Security Agencies and report back to the House in six weeks, and it was adopted too.
When people say that Mr Project is prepared to serve, better believe it!
