We shall continue to inform the nay sayers that Enugu state has a strong zoning understanding which can not be truncated by anyone. It has brought political peace in the state and by 2023, the successor of gov Ugwuanyi will come from Enugu East Senatorial Zone.
Senator Ike Ekweremadu who had wanted to challenge the zoning understanding in Enugu state seems to have retraced his steps as he showed up yesterday at the LG campaign rally of PDP led by Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Executive Governor of Enugu state who is equally an advocate of zoning.
At the campaign tour for February 23, Enugu state LGA election held yesterday at Ezeagu LG, Senator Ike Ekweremadu showed up and in his speech extolled the leadership qualities of gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
All the leaders who spoke at the campaign rally unanimously agreed to stand with gov Ugwuanyi who despite challenges has restored peace and security in the state.
Gov Ugwuanyi has been consistent in his position for 2023 governorship election in Enugu state. He is a product of zoning and has stated in many occasions that he would support the people of Enugu East Senatorial Zone to produce his successors in 2023.
Ike Ekweremadu is the only major stakeholder in Enugu state who has kicked against this position. He mobilised some jobbers under Oganiru Enugu state to destabilize the zoning arrangement.
But a statement was made yesterday at Ezeagu. Those still in Oganiru Enugu state should return to base and stop destabilizing the political peace in the state. Ike Ekweremadu will eventually support gov Ugwuanyi and back the candidate of the party from Enugu East Senatorial Zone.
Ugwuanyi should be commended for being a leader for all. His position on zoning can not be faulted. It is a thing of joy to see Ike Ekweremadu coming to work together with Leader of the PDP in the state. Others should follow suit, let’s go make a governor from Enugu East Senatorial Zone
