The family of late Chief Chukwuto Odogo has refuted our earlier publication of Nnewi Widow, Mrs. Rose Odogo, who accused Humphrey Ngonadi (Ngobros) and Chidi Odogo of intimidating, maltreating, and forcing encroachment on her husband’s property.

According to the family, after the death and burial of Chief Chukwuto Odogo, Mr. Chidi Odogo refused the will and went to court, and the judgement was in his favour, but a few days after he was declared the winner, the family house was demolished with more than twenty thugs at work. When the last wife of the father cried out that it was her husband’s house, they beat her up.
The compound was sold to Mr. Emeka Chukwueloka (BB) of Abubor Nnewichi, Nnewi. To justify their action, they were instigated to take Mr. Chidi to court, claiming that he was the first son of the late Chief Chukwuto Odogo. The court again declared Mr. Chidi the first son of Chukwuto Odogo and fined them 5.4 million for demolishing the family house, the family said.
The family added that the compound was actually where their father buried his own father, and none of these people can identify any of them as the children of late Chief Chukwuto Odogo; that late Samuel Emeka Odogo and his family were only linked up by someone who wanted Mr. Chidi Odogo to be disinherited of his proper rights.
Chief George Onyekaba is the Obi of Nnewichi who has been addressing Chidi Jasper Odogo as Chief Chidi Odogo and inviting him to meetings of Obis’ in the Ezeobuo family, but he has never addressed the late Samuel Emeka Odogo as Obi of the Dimonkwuli family, and Obi Nnewhi has a vested interest in Mr. Emeka Chukwueloka (BB) from Nnewichi. Obi Onyekaba and Mr. Emeka Chukwueloka have been harassing and intimidating Mr. Chidi Jasper Odogo, who is the rightful owner of the compound, the family concluded.
Read below the entire statement that was written and signed by both Dr. Mrs. Nkechinyelu Iruoma (Nee Odogo, first issue) and Mr. Ifeanyi Precious Odogo (second son).
“The family of late Chief Chukwuto Odogo who died and was buried on 24th November 2011 hereby write to refute the bundle of lies disseminated by the so called Nnewi Widow. In the first place, the late Chief Chukwuto Odogo had children with Dr. Mrs. Nkechinyelu (Nne Odogo) as the first issue and the second issue is a male child who is the first son by name Mr. Chidi Odogo and now the head of the family.
After Mr. Chidi, there are other males that go in this order:
- Mr. Ifeanyi Precious,
- Dr. Nnamdi Ogochukwu,
- Mr. Emeka Ndubuisi,
- Mr. Chukwuchebem Fidelis,
- Mr. Obinna Chinagorom,
- Mr. Ndochukwu,
- Mr. Nonso,
- Mr. Ugochukwu.
“The first of the lies in that publication is the names mentioned like Mrs. Rose Odogo, Mr. Samuel Chukwuemeka, Arinze Odogo which are fictitious names, they are never in our linage, we have no blood relationship with such people. We have never in our life seen such people except after the death and burial of our father Chief Chukwuto Odogo, the said names, emerged when in 2012 they broke into our family house which Mr. Chidi Odogo renovated, modernised and furnished during the burial of our father, with the help of our father’s fourth (4th) wife after the “Forged Will” said to be written by Chief Chukwuto Odogo, Mr. Chidi Odogo refused the Will and went to court.
“The court action lasted for some years after which the court declared Mr. Chidi Odogo the winner, as the first son and head of Odogo’s family even the head of Obi Dim Onukwuli. He reported the victory to the said Chief Onyekaba in their write up then after some days, instead of these people leaving our family house, we only saw the eight rooms and parlour bungalow which of course is our family house demolished with more than twenty thugs at work. When the last wife of our father cried out that it was her husband’s house they really beat her up.
“It was after this that the compound was sold out to the said Mr. Emeka Chukwueloka (BB) of Abubor Nnewichi, Nnewi. Then to justify their action, they were instigated to take Mr. Chidi to court claiming that it was their father that is the first son of late Chief Chukwuto Odogo, whom they don’t even know. When the burial ceremony of late Chief Chukwuto was conducted, these liars were not there, even the brochure showed the names of survivors. Now after taking Mr. Chidi to court, the court again declared Mr. Chidi the first son of Chukwuto Odogo and then fined them ₦5.4m for demolishing our family house.
“Late Chief Chukwuto Odogo was occupying one of the Obi’s in Nnewichi, so how come that a right thinking person will sell off such Obi. Again if he is a member of our family, how can such a family house be sold without the consent of other male members of the family? This compound is actually where we buried our father, with his grave inside that compound which was fenced, then a right thinking person from Nnewichi came in and bought someone’s compound. The selling of the compound is like the case which King Solomon in the bible judged between two women about the owner of a living child. In fact, it is an abomination to sell off an Obi like that.
“The so-called Arinze saying it was his father’s property is a blatant lie, again mentioning Ngobros in this case is another white lie. Have these people ever seen Mr. Humphrey Ngonadi (Ngobros), talk less of discussing about such sales of the compound with him; all of these are insinuations of those giving them coverage. In fact, it is simply a blackmail.
“None of these people can identify any of us being the children of late Chief Chukwuto Odogo. Thank God our father had a signed document containing the list of his children, showing that these other people are intruders.
“Also the history book of Dim onukwulu Umuabani which our father was the secretary had a list of the first five sons then. The so called late Samuel Emeka Odogo and his family (so called Rose Odogo, Arinze Odogo and others) are from Chikwendu family of Otolo Nnewi. They were only linked up by someone who want Mr. Chidi Odogo to be disinherited of his proper right.
The mentioned Chief George Onyekaba is the Obi of Nnewichi who:
- had been addressing Chidi Jasper Odogo as Chief Chidi Odogo, the Obi Dimonukwuli family which he knows well that Chidi Jasper Odogo is the first son of late Chief Chukwuto Odogo.
- Obi George Onyekaba had been inviting Chidi Jasper Odogo to meetings of Obis’ in Ezeobuo family being the first son of late Chief Chukwuto Odogo and Obi Dimonukwuli.
- Obi George Onyekaba had a face out with Chidi Jasper Odogo when the later stood against him taking Dimonukwuli family land at Okwu-Udo Nnewichi, but this will not be enough for Chief George Onyekaba to be against Chidi Odogo at this time.
- He, George Onyekaba had never addressed the so called late Samuel Emeka Odogo as Obi of Dimonkwuli family because he knows very well that he was not a child of late Chief Chukwuto Odogo.
- The body of our father was evacuated to unknown place uptil now as directed by Obi Nnewichi.
- Obi Nnewhi had vested interest because the said Mr. Emeka Chukwueloka (BB) from Nnewichi has blood relationship with Obi George Onyekaba (Oso Nna ya muo mwadiana na be Chukwueloka in Abubor Nnewichi).
- Obi George Onyekaba, Obi Nnewichi had never been in good terms with our father, late Chief Chukwuto Odogo throughout his life time. As a result of that, he never went for any meeting of Obi’s which he summoned, this prompted the Dimonukwuli family to select Mr. Anthony Anosike as a representative of the family in Obi’s meetings and as such our father cannot go to him to introduce the so called Emeka Odogo as the first son.
“We therefore call on the public to disregard the lies of the so called widow of Nnewi and her son. They are just intruders. Hence we call on Obi Onyekaba and the said Emeka Chukwueloka to desists from trespassing into our father’s compound; as the rightful owner is Mr. Chidi Jasper Odogo. Stop harassing and intimidating him.”
