FG commences the disbursement of cash grant to Anambra State rural women

A total of five hundred and sixty million naira is being disbursed to two thousand, eight hundred Anambra State women under the Federal government cash grant for rural women.

The grant powered by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian affairs Disaster Management and Social Development, was Symbolically flagged off at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.

In her address, the Minister, Hajiya Umar Faruk said that the Federal Government has paid more attention to addressing the plight of the poor and vulnerable in the country despite the economic slump and glaring revenue challenges hence, the decision by President Muhamadu Buhari to initiate the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) as a strategy for reducing poverty and enhancing social inclusion.

The Minister represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Bashir Nura Alkali, noted that the social investment programme has impacted positively on the lives of the poor and vulnerable in Nigeria as over twelve million households have benefitted from NSIP interventions in the last five years.

The state commissioner for Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money.
