First Bank Nigeria Limited, the country’s oldest bank, has announced a phased corporate name change for its subsidiaries in the United Kingdom and Sub-Saharan Africa. The name change will align the subsidiaries with the parent brand and leverage the strong heritage and brand equity built by FirstBank Nigeria over its 129 years of existence.
The bank’s Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Folake Ani-Mumuney, confirmed the name change in a statement, which includes subsidiaries in several African countries where it has a presence. The first set of subsidiaries affected by the name change includes FBNBank UK, FBNBank Sierra Leone, FBNBank Gambia, and FBNBank DRC, which will now be known as FirstBank UK, FirstBank Sierra Leon, FirstBank Gambia, and FirstBank DRC.
The bank said the name change will enhance quality-of-service delivery resulting in better brand transparency, uniformity, and character across all markets where it operates. The next phase of its name change affecting its operations in Ghana, Senegal, and Guinea, will be announced soon.
Adesola Adeduntan, the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, said the name change coincided with the bank’s 129th anniversary and is a milestone reflective of their commitment to providing excellent service to customers.
