Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo says his administration is passionate about strategic roads, linking communities and so on.
Governor Soludo stated this at the flag-off ceremony for rehabilitation of the failed portion of the popular Mmili John road, Ojoto in Idemili South Council Area.
The contract had been awarded by the state government two weeks ago and caterpillar is already on site, working.
Mmili John road derived its name from John Uzo of the Public Works Department in the past who used to do repair work on the road in those days.
Governor Soludo explained that his administration is determined to solve the age long jinx in the axis which makes it impassable once it overflows unto the road, making it difficult for commuters to differentiate the road from the river.
The Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma explained that to solve the issue, the contractor will dredge 500 meters of the river, by the left and right sides, desilt the culvert and widen the river-flow, saying that it will be completed in six weeks time.
The Transition Committee Chairman for Idemili South, Mrs. Amaka Obi, Barrister Ifeatu Obiokoye, among others, attended the ceremony.
