I was inspired by governor’s strides in capacity building programmes through Enugu SMEs Centre – Lady Ubosi
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, yesterday, amid excitement, inaugurated Rancsfard Fashion and Skill Academy, a skill acquisition centre that provides a veritable platform for participants, especially the youths, to acquire skills in fashion and design, makeup artistry, baking and pastry production, photography and ICT.
Welcoming Governor Ugwuanyi and other dignitaries to the academy, located at No. 5 Mike Eze Crescent, adjacent Federal School of Dental Technology and Therapy, Trans Ekulu, Enugu, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Lady Princess Akunna Ubosi, disclosed that her decision to establish the facility was borne out of “a burning desire to create a platform where individuals, especially our youths, can easily acquire lifelong entrepreneurial skills that will reduce the high rate of unemployment in our society and also ensure a productive future for our young ones.”
Lady Ubosi, who is the wife of the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, added that she was also inspired by Governor Ugwuanyi’s “enormous strides in building capacity amongst our youths through various skill acquisition programmes anchored by the Enugu SMEs Centre.”
She informed the governor that Rancsfard Fashion and Skill Academy is positioned and available to partner the state government in building capacity among the people, revealing that the academy “is willing to train verified indigent students free of charge.”
Elucidating the academy’s unique background and business philosophy, the Speaker’s wife said: “The academy incorporates a bakery and clothing production factory through which our finished products are sold to the general public; and we are proud to note that our products are made in Enugu State to international standards.
“The world is currently in a knowledge based economy in which ‘knowledge’ is the only meaningful factor of production. Therefore, creating a learning society will not be possible without building a platform where this knowledge can be transferred from one person to another.
“Thus, the advantages of building capacity at Rancsfard cannot be over emphasised. Our facilities, resources and instructors are top-notchers and will ensure you learn to succeed.
“We ensure our students acquire vast knowledge in their chosen field and also connect them to a mentorship programme for guidance in honing their skills. It is important to note that Rancsfard Academy is willing to train verified indigent students free of charge.”
Appreciating her husband, Rt. Hon. Edward Uchenna Ubosi, for his wisdom and invaluable support “from the birth of the idea to the finishing point,” Lady Ubosi urged the people of Enugu State to take advantage the academy offers to train the young ones in various skills that will improve their living standard.
Governor Ugwuanyi who inspected the academy after the inauguration, expressed delight at the facilities in it as well as the initiative, and beseeched God to bless the cherished efforts and good intentions of the proprietor.
The Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Uche Ugwu and other members of the House, the Council Chairmen, and the President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Enugu State Chapter, Prof. Fred Eze, were among the dignitaries who witnessed the event.
