The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, paid his respects to the late Senator Annie Okonkwo during a moving funeral mass held at St Paul Catholic Church in Ojoto, Idemili South Council Area.
Governor Soludo, in his address, highlighted the purposeful and impactful life led by late Senator Annie Okonkwo. The funeral mass, presided over by the Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, the Archbishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, drew dignitaries from across the nation, including Senator Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, Dr. Alex Oti, the Governor of Abia State, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, and various government officials, senators, and house representatives, both current and former.
In his eulogy, Governor Soludo expressed the deep loss that Ojoto, Anambra, Nigeria, and the global community have experienced with the passing of Senator Annie Okonkwo. He offered his condolences to the Okonkwo family, as well as his wife and children, recognizing the profound impact the late Senator had on countless lives.
The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, also shared his sympathies with the grieving family and friends in attendance.
During a poignant homily, Rev. Fr. Prudentus Aroh, Chancellor of the Onitsha Archdiocese, delivered a message centered on the theme “It is well with my soul.” He praised the late Senator for leaving behind a meaningful legacy as a practicing Christian and extended gratitude to God for the life lived by the deceased.
