Governor Soludo’s “One Youth, Two Skills” Initiative Gains Increasing Momentum

The Anambra State government’s “One Youth, Two Skills” entrepreneurship scheme has continued to gain momentum.

Recently, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha-Mba visited some training centres to monitor and evaluate the program.

The training centres visited by the Commissioner and his technical team include, Onitsha Leadership and Entrepreneurship Centre Onitsha North LGA, Innovation Growth Hub Ekwueme Building Onitsha North LGA, Onitsha South Secretariat Hall, Idemili North Secretariat Hall, Anambra East Secretariat Hall and Oyi Secretariat Hall.

The scheme, which is piloted through the State Ministry of Youth in partnership with Unizik Business School and other vocational centres, is designed to provide young people with requisite skills to start their own businesses.

The program includes a sequential arrangement which ranges from the Apprenticeship, Entrepreneurship, Corporative, Financing and mentoring stage.

On completion of the training, trainees will be awarded certification from UNIZIK Business School.

“The major goal of the one youth two skills is to redefine youth empowerment to a more productive and innovative program,” said Commissioner Agha-Mba. It is an evolution from political to developmental empowerment.”

The Commissioner added that the “One Youth, Two Skills” entrepreneurship scheme is part of Governor Soludo’s broader plan to revitalize the Anambra economy and create jobs for young people.

He said that the scheme has been praised by both young people and business leaders, who described it is the much-needed initiative that will help to boost the state’s economy.

In their respective speeches, Nnamdi (a Nwa boy in Onitsha), Esther learning Fashion Designing, Ebuka learning metal fabrication, Mazi a Master trainer in Fashion Designing, Ruth learning mechanical engineering and Chidimma learning tailoring, lauded Governor Soludo for giving their lives a meaning.

They also acknowledged that the One Youths Two Skills program initiated by the Governor has never been experienced in the state in such dimension before.
