Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has criticized Senator Dino Melaye’s alleged governorship ambition in Kogi state, stating that the former lawmaker does not have what it takes to contest for the gubernatorial election. Wike made this statement during a live media chat with selected journalists in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
The governor expressed his doubts about the possibility of Dino winning the election, questioning the decision of Kogi people to vote for him. According to Wike, being from a particular location does not guarantee electoral success. He stated that Dino Melaye does not have the required qualifications to be the governor of the state.
Wike went on to state that if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gives the ticket to Melaye, the party is bound to lose the election. He accused the PDP leadership of trying to manipulate the process in favor of the former Kogi lawmaker.
The governor also expressed his unwillingness to campaign for the PDP if the party gives its governorship ticket to Dino Melaye. When asked if he would campaign for the opposition party if Melaye wins the ticket, Wike stated that he would not do so.
In conclusion, Wike emphasized the importance of having a qualified candidate who possesses the required skills and experience to govern a state. He advised the PDP leadership to choose the right candidate who can win the election and govern the state effectively.
