Group Urges Security Agencies to Arrest Plotters of Interim Government, Says It’s Against Inauguration of New President

The Friends of Jagaban Initiative (FOJI) has called on security agencies to arrest and prosecute plotters of an Interim National Government (ING), which is against the inauguration of a new president. FOJI’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Al-Kadiriyar Abdulfatai, made the call in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.

Abdulfatai expressed concern over a report released by the Department of State Services (DSS) on the situation whereby some elements are pushing for an interim government. He advocated for peace, stating that FOJI presented its voice as millions of Nigerian youths under the aegis of FOJI who were happy with the recently-concluded elections where Sen. Bola Tinubu and Sen. Kashim Shettima were declared winners through a civil, transparent, peaceful, free, fair and credible electioneering process.

He also commended the election process and congratulated Nigerians for having a man like Tinubu to pilot the affairs of the nation. Abdulfatai called on security agencies to unmask the proponents of such anti-democracy moves who intend to take the country back to the experience of 1993 when Abiola won in a presidential election and was denied his mandate.

FOJI said it would not rest on its oars to ensure that another civil to civil transition was actualized, and it will stand with President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigerians who took up their time to vote for their leader to ensure that Tinubu and Shettima are sworn in come May 29. The DSS earlier confirmed plans by some people to install ING.
