Hon Dozie Nwankwo Emerges as Veteran of Post-Election Litigation

In a captivating political saga, Hon Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo has established himself as a formidable force in the realm of post-election litigation. His journey began in 2011 when he entered Anambra politics, vying for the House of Representatives seat in the Anaocha-Dunukofia-Njikoka federal constituency.

Running under the banner of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Nwankwo faced off against APGA candidate Iyom Uche Ekwunife. Despite a valiant effort, he conceded victory to Ekwunife. Determined to challenge the election outcome, Nwankwo took his case to the tribunal, which ultimately ruled in his favor, nullifying the election and calling for a rerun. However, the constituency’s dynamics favored Ekwunife, and she emerged victorious once again.

Undeterred, Nwankwo returned in 2015, seeking to represent the Anaocha-Dunukofia-Njikoka federal constituency in the House of Representatives. With Ekwunife now competing for a Senate seat under the PDP, Nwankwo switched his allegiance to APGA and faced off against PDP candidate Dr. Okey Eze. This time, Nwankwo triumphed in court, securing his place in the House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019.

Despite initial defeat, Nwankwo once again resorted to the courts, successfully overturning Ayika’s victory and reclaiming his position.

Fast forward to the recent February 25, 2023 elections, where Nwankwo faced off against Senator Victor Umeh. Initially competing in the APGA primary, Nwankwo emerged as the unexpected victor, leaving Umeh to defect to the Labour Party. Ultimately, Umeh secured the seat, defeating Nwankwo in the main election.

Now, Hon Dozie Nwankwo finds himself back at the tribunal, challenging Umeh’s victory in the Anambra central senatorial election. Will Nwankwo utilize the court to overturn the results and secure his place in the Senate?
