I Am In A Very Familiar Terrain, Ekwunife Says As She Meets Anambra North PDP Stakeholders

The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, had on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at Otuocha in Anambra East Local Government met with Anambra North PDP stakeholders to seek their support in pursuance of her gubernatorial ambition.

Ekwunife who had in the last few weeks toured different zones in the state, revisited Anambra North Stakeholders following her visit earlier in the month.

Addressing the gathering, Ekwunife appreciated the Stakeholders for their commitment, loyalty and support for the party. She forewarned that the upcoming election will be a very tough one, and only a tough, focused, experienced and knowledgeable candidate who knows the terrain can achieve victory. She stated that PDP cannot afford to make the mistake of nominating a candidate without the prerequisite knowledge and combination to take the party to Agu Awka.

Senator Ekwunife stated that there is a season for everything on earth, and having witnessed men at the helm of affairs over the years, the time is ripe for a woman to be given the opportunity to be Governor. She noted that governance has gone beyond gender discrimination. According to her, “there are good administrators in both men and women”.

“I seek for support because I know the state, and her people, having established records of excellent representation since I was first elected into the Federal House of Representatives in 2007 this is time to ascend into the Anambra Government House.”

Speaking further, Ekwunife noted that Anambra North is a familiar terrain for her, following the fact that she grew up in Onitsha and her early working years in the bank was in the North Senatorial zone. She restated that she is in the race because of her competence, capacity and sufficient knowledge to tackle the challenges facing the state.

“The only way to appraise an aspirant is to look at the past record of the person. You will use the person’s performance to arrive at your decision. Respectfully all the aspirants are good but I am the most qualified judging by my track records”, she said.

Concluding, Ekwunife told the gathering that she wants to be their first, second and third options. According to the Senator, with her as the candidate of PDP, the party is assured of victory come November 6.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Dr. Obi Anyaayo appreciated the Senator for her uncommon performance . He said that Ekwunife is not just a distinguished Senator, but distinguished in character, learning, experience and every aspect of life. He described her as a woman of hard work and integrity, assuring her of the zone’s support.

Stakeholders on ground to receive Ekwunife’s entourage were the Vice Chairman North, Francis Udeoba, PDP Assistant State Secretary, Joe Isiagu, PDP State Auditor, Obinna Okonkwo, LGA Chairmen: Engr Nkiruka (Onitsha North), Chucks Onyenweizu (Onitsha South), Bonny Okoye(Ayamelum and Chairman of all LGA Chairman Anambra North), Melikam Johnson (Anambra East), Samuel Ozoekwe (Anambra West), Azubuike Adiakosa (Ogbaru) and Engr Emeka Agulue (Oyi). Others include Former Council Chairman, Ambrose Dibua, State Officer, Chinedu Okwuaso, Ex-Officio (Anambra North), Emeka Small Nzekwe, Lady Agatha, Local Government Women Leaders, PDP 2019 State Assembly Candidates amongst others.

The Senator was accompanied to the visit by some of her supporters which incude, Former Members of House of Assembly, Hon Barr Chuba Oranusi and Hon Joe Dimobi. Former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon Barr Ken Arinze, Former PDP House of Assembly Candidate, Hon Pat Uchendu, Former Commissioner for Women Affairs Anambra State, Lady Henrietta Agbata, Former Accountant-General of Anambra state, Mrs. Helen Nwaeri, Former Chairman of ASUBEB, Dr. Rose Nwankwo, Former Managing Director Anambra Physical Planning Board, Chief Victor Okpoko, Hon Ejike Nwosu (Uta Aguata), A respected PDP Stakeholder, Chief Innocent Ujubuonwu, Her Legislative Assistant, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Chinwuko amongst others.
