I Lost A Mother In Lady Onwusowulu – Ekwunife Tells Family

By Linus Chukwuma

Immediately I learnt of the demise of Lady Amauchenu Regina Onwusowulu I knew there is someone who will find it extremely difficult to forget her. The very person is not a family member, but held the deceased at high esteem.

And yes I was very right.

Yesterday, I could read through the mood of the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, while in her usual manner of checking up on me over the phone. The Senator was mourning, sorrowing and if I must add sad. It was not surprising because I knew what was happening in Odidama village Agulu, Anaocha, Anambra state.

It was the burial ceremony of late Lady Onwusowulu who died at the age of 77.

The burial mass which held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Agulu, drew personalities from all strata of society.

The deceased who was the mother of Hon. Fidelis Onwusowulu, mother in-law of Mrs Ifesinachi Onwusowulu and in-law to Ndibe Obi was loved and cherished by family and friends whom amongst them is Mrs. Uche Ekwunife.

The A-grade Senator is someone who is not only experienced in art of legislation, but at home with her constituents. Ekwunife has not stopped caring, rejoicing or commiserating with people when the need arises.

Speaking during the burial ceremony, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Science and Technology who was represented by a delegation led by the Chairman of her Campaign Organization, Ichie Sir Edwin Ubboh, said that she has lost a mother in Lady Onwusowulu. She condoled with the family and prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased who was also known as Nne Ubboe.

Recall that Mr. Ndibe Obi is the elder brother of the PDP Vice Presidential candidate in the last elections who is widely celebrated for the good governance he offered Ndi Anambra during his tenure as Governor.

Dignitaries present to bade the deceased farewell were the former governor of Anambra state, HE Peter Obi, Hon. Ebele Ejiofor (Member representing Anaocha 1 constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly) amongst others.
