His Royal Highness, Igwe Michael Chidozie Okekeuche, Okpalariam III of Enugwu-Agidi Umunri Ancient Kingdom, played host to Hon. Chinedu Nwoye (Glamour), Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief Protocol Officer to the Executive Governor of Anambra State, along with other government functionaries, as they represented Governor Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, at the grand finale of the 2025 Opoto Cultural Festival on Sunday, March 9, 2025.
Hon. Nwoye and his entourage were warmly received at the Igwe’s palace, where they joined in the celebration of the festival’s concluding events, reinforcing the government’s support for tradition, culture, and unity in Enugwu-Agidi.
Soludo Respects Tradition – Hon. Nwoye Debunks False Claims
Speaking on behalf of Governor Soludo, Hon. Nwoye conveyed the governor’s goodwill message to Igwe Okekeuche and the people of Enugwu-Agidi. He used the opportunity to address misinformation suggesting that the Soludo administration is against traditional practices in Anambra State.
“Governor Soludo holds our culture and traditions in high esteem. However, he remains firm in his administration’s fight against insecurity. Unfortunately, many criminals arrested across the state have been found with charms, and when interrogated, they claim to have received them from certain native doctors. It is these individuals who aid and abet criminal activities that the government is taking action against, not genuine traditionalists.”
Hon. Nwoye Commends Igwe Okekeuche for Promoting Peace
Hon. Nwoye also applauded Igwe Okekeuche for his leadership in fostering peace and unity in Enugwu-Agidi. He revealed that he was particularly excited upon hearing that the President General of Enugwu-Agidi Town Union, Hon. Chukwuebuka Onuorah, had earlier visited the palace as part of the festival celebrations.
“When I learned that Hon. Chukwuebuka Onuorah had come to the palace earlier, I was overjoyed. It is a clear indication that peace is gradually returning to Enugwu-Agidi. As someone who values peace, this development brings me great happiness. Njikoka, as a local government, represents peace and oneness, and I urge Ndi Enugwu-Agidi to continue upholding these values.”
Igwe Okekeuche’s Prayers for Soludo’s Administration
In his remarks, Igwe Michael Chidozie Okekeuche expressed his deep appreciation to Hon. Nwoye and Governor Soludo for their commitment to peace, security, and cultural preservation in Anambra State. He offered prayers for divine guidance and protection over the governor, his administration, and all those working towards the state’s progress.
The 2025 Opoto Cultural Festival, which commenced on Thursday, March 6, officially ended on Sunday, March 9, with grand masquerade displays, cultural performances, and communal feasting, strengthening the bond of unity and tradition among the people of Enugwu-Agidi Umunri Ancient Kingdom.
