The next general election is almost here, so it’s time to make some bold predictions about how it will turn out and how it will affect the average person. The current state of the world demands innovative leadership, which means thinking creatively to resolve recurring problems that are constantly getting worse.
Nigeria is governed by laws and regulations, which the relevant authorities are obliged to uphold. Therefore, every person who serves as a representative of the people must be accountable and committed to doing so. We should therefore think about who is at fault before claiming that poverty has overcome us. Each level of government is responsible for specific things under the constitution.
States and the federal government both have boundaries, and lawmakers are in charge of passing laws and providing the executive with checks and balances, while local councils interact directly with the average citizen. These tiers each have their BUDGET.
Did the federal government provide the state with funding? If so, why isn’t the state doing better? Are the local councils’ shares being distributed by the state as intended? If so, why does the general public seem to care so little about how local governments are run?
For this reason, only people who can be relied upon and trusted should be nominated to fill any electoral office in future elections.
This is the main standard that voters should be aware of for every elective position; we now need to start holding each elected official responsible for upholding the terms of their office.
The most important duty of a Legislator is to represent the people. A Legislator consults the locals in his constituency about problems, concerns, or suggestions. The majority of voters elect their representatives in the expectation that they will seek to establish laws that benefit the majority of citizens.
The people who sent our Legislators to serve as their representatives must be informed, and they must keep the channels of communication open.
Our Lawmakers are members of numerous committees, each of which has a specific focus—for example, national security, business, health, or education. They must see that their constituencies benefit from the decisions made by these committees.
Sadly, Ihiala Federal Constituency has regressed rather than advanced over the past eight years as a result of the ineffective leadership of the Lawmaker who currently represents the constituency; it appears that he must have muscled his way into the community because no one feels confident enough to challenge his ineffective leadership, which is devoid of developmental ideas, let alone being proactive.
Hon Barr Akachukwu Maduakolam is set to replace the current representative, who has failed miserably, and his bold move into the National Assembly would undoubtedly change the game. The former Special Assistant to Anambra State Governor is known for his significant developmental achievements.
By all accounts, the populace is enthusiastic about Hon Barr Akachukwu Maduakolam’s quest to represent the good people of Ihiala Federal Constituency and is firmly behind him. For the people of Ihiala Federal Constituency, it would be a courageous journey to victory.
