  • Expresses displeasure over ruckus caused by rabble rousers in relief market days ago

The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry Comrade Simon Ebegbulem yesterday admonished Market Executives for their lackadaisical attitude towards the protection of peace and the well-being of the traders in the markets after some unscrupulous elements stormed a major market in the state to stir unrest, also breaking the COVID-19 protocols put in place.

The Commissioner warned the Markets Executives to take their jobs seriously to prevent a recurrence of this type of ruckus in the market place as it is their job to ensure the peace and safety of market goers.

He further ordered the Imo State Amalgamated Markets and Traders Association (ISAMATA) to immediately enforce the COVID-19 safety protocols in all markets in Imo State

This enforcement would include the checking of temperatures of anyone entering the market, the wearing of face mask by both buyers and sellers, social distancing, and a sign post at the entrance of every market in the state.
