Indigent Patients in Enugu and Ebonyi Benefit From ₦500 Million DIPF Medical Intervention Project

In a landmark humanitarian gesture, the De Imperial Philanthropic Family (DIPF) on Thursday, October 9, 2025, cleared medical bills for all indigent patients at the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki (AEFUTHA) in Ebonyi State and the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu.

The gesture, carried out under the group’s Southeast Medical Intervention Project, is part of a ₦500 million healthcare relief programme aimed at assisting financially disadvantaged patients across the region. In addition to settling hospital bills, the DIPF also provided cash, transportation, and feeding allowances to enable beneficiaries complete their treatment and return home without financial strain.

Speaking on the initiative, the National President of DIPF, Dr. Sir Darlington Nwabunike, said the ongoing intervention is fully funded through voluntary contributions from members and supporters of the foundation. He reaffirmed the group’s commitment to sustaining its medical and social support programmes across the Southeast.
