INEC Announces Supplementary Elections in Rivers for Saturday

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled Saturday, April 15, 2023, for a supplementary election in Port Harcourt II and Khana/Gokana federal constituencies.

Dr Johnson Sinikiem, the State INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, announced this in a statement in Port Harcourt on Tuesday. According to the statement, the election would begin by 8:30 am in the LGAs and Registration Areas.

Sinikiem further explained that the supplementary election would take place in Khana Wards 04 and 07, across 42 polling units. Additionally, in Port Harcourt, the election would be held in 377 polling units within Wards 05, 10 and 28.

“The Commission, therefore, calls on all registered voters in the affected registration areas/polling units to come out en masse on the above-mentioned date to cast their votes and to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner and in accordance with laid down guidelines,” Sinikiem said.

INEC reassured the public of its commitment to ensuring a successful conclusion of the election.
