The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, has released the substituted candidates list for the Anambra November six Gubernatorial election.
The list has Professor Charles Soludo and Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Ibezim as the governorship and deputy governorship candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
A statement signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Barrister Festus Okoye, said, the Commission was served with the judgement of the Court of Appeal Kano Division which set aside the judgement of the High Court of Jigawa State on the leadership of APGA and the nomination of its candidates for the Anambra Governorship election which necessitated the changes.
The statement noted that the timetable and schedules of activities as approved by the Commission on eighteenth January twenty twenty one for the withdrawal or substitution of candidates in line with section thirty five of the Electoral Act twenty ten as amended and according to the Commission’s thirtieth July deadline, seven Governorship and eleven deputy governorship candidates were substituted by eleven out of the the eighteen political parties including the All Progressives Congress, APC, which gave Chukwuemeka Stephen Okafor as its Deputy governorship candidate.
The statement made no mention of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, but said the final list of candidates will be published on seventh October, twenty twenty one as provided by the timetable and schedule of activities for the election.
