INTERNATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY AND MY VISION FOR THE ANAMBRA GIRL CHILD
As we mark this year’s celebration of the International Girl Child day tagged “Digital Generation, Our Generation,” I am reminded of a key part of my agenda, which has womenfolk, especially the girl child as its primal focus. That vision is geared towards equipping and uplifting the girl child and preparing her for the many opportunities that awaits her in the future.
The believe that an educated girl child increases a country’s productivity and fuels economic growth is further reinforced by the reality that education of the girl child adds both immediate and future values to a society that is focused on multifaceted developments.
I, hereby, congratulate the girl child all over the world, particularly our female children in Anambra and promise to solemnly pledge that Anambra state under my watch shall hold the rights of the girl child as sacred, while providing access to quality education, improved healthcare, skill-based learning facilities, equal opportunities, safeguard against gender based violence and discrimination.
It is, therefore, my earnest desire to see the girl child excel, just as I equally want to see them win and achieve greatness in all spheres of life.
In deed, as Governor of Anambra state, I shall expand this vision to reach every girl child born or raised in Anambra state.
Signed:
Sen. Andy Uba
Gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Anambra Gubernatorial election
