IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu’s Health Deteriorates Further as Tuberculosis Patient Transferred to his Cell Block

The health of detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has continued to worsen as his lawyers raise the alarm over his deteriorating health condition.

One of his lawyers, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, has reported that Kanu had an episode of profuse nose bleeding on Sunday, while the Department of the State Services (DSS) transferred a detainee diagnosed with tuberculosis to his cell block.

This comes as his lawyers have repeatedly complained that the DSS has refused to grant Kanu access to his personal doctors, in violation of a court order.

According to senior lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Kanu currently needs the urgent service of a cardiologist, and has been subjected to “trial and error” medical experimentation by unqualified doctors recruited by the DSS.

Kanu has been in DSS custody since his extradition from Kenya in June 2021, and his lawyers have called for his immediate release in line with an order of the Court of Appeal which discharged him and forbade his further detention.
