Senator Uche Ekwunife, who represents Anambra Central, has refuted reports suggesting that her political career is being sponsored by Chris Uba, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State. The online news publication had claimed that Chief Chris Uba had been instrumental to Ekwunife’s political success, including her 2023 re-election bid.
In a press release issued by her Media Assistant, Kingsley Ubani, on Tuesday in Awka, Ekwunife denied the allegations, describing them as false and malicious. She credited her success to divine intervention, hard work, and diligent service to the people, and maintained that her victories at the polls were always the result of popular mandates given to her by the people.
Kingsley Ubani clarified that Ekwunife’s political journey was never influenced by Chris Uba, and urged the public to disregard the report. He further advised those who consider lies, blackmail, propaganda, and slander as their gateway to political stardom to focus on achieving their political dreams rather than dragging Senator Ekwunife into their endless loop of political perplexity.
Ekwunife, who had served in the House of Representatives before being elected into the Nigerian Senate in 2015, has remained a popular figure in Anambra politics. Her denial of the allegations is expected to put an end to the controversy surrounding her political affiliation with Chris Uba.
