JAMB announces new date for 2023 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a new date for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). In a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB stated that the exam will now commence on April 25, 2023, instead of the earlier scheduled date of April 29.

JAMB also disclosed that the rescheduled mock-UTME will take place on April 18, 2023. The board had earlier conducted its 2023 mock-UTME on March 30 in 725 centres across the country, but the exercise was disrupted in some centres due to technical hitches. The rescheduled mock examination is to enable candidates who missed the previous one to take the examination.

According to Benjamin, the result of the candidates who successfully took the mock examination on March 30 has been released. He added that candidates who were screened but unable to sit for the examination would retake the mock exam on April 18.

The adjustment in the date of the UTME was made to accommodate some major and critical national assignments, and the board hopes that no citizen will be denied the opportunity to exercise their civic responsibilities. JAMB also solicited the understanding of all stakeholders as it delivered on its critical mandate.

JAMB is the body responsible for the conduct of the UTME, which is a computer-based examination taken by prospective undergraduates in Nigeria for admission into tertiary institutions.
