— Restates Commitment To Rural And Urban Development
The leading aspirant for the November 6 governorship election under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom), has assured that simultaneous rural and urban development are part of her agenda if elected as the next governor of the state, noting that as governor she will ensure that the benefits of development reach all citizens.
Ekwunife, who made this known while commissioning a 3-bedroom bungalow she built for Mr. & Mrs. Ifeanyi Uzuegbunam of Umugama village, Ukwulu, Dunukofia LGA, Anambra state, stated that migration from rural to urban areas is because of Infrastructural deficit, stressing that she will open up the hinterlands by accelerating infrastructural development. She said that her government will eradicate slums in the state and noted that infrastructure consists of the basic facilities like health, education, road and housing, which enable a state to function.
Talking on, the grassroots friendly Senator reiterated her promise to conduct the LGA election within a year in office, adding that it’s a way of taking governance to the grassroots. She reassured her commitment to return the state on the path of economic prosperity.
The Igbo-Ukwu born Senator further noted that she feels very happy whenever she impacts on the lives of people, thanking the people for the mandate to represent them on the floor of the senate.
While welcoming the Senator, the President General, Mr. Christopher Anyaofu eulogized Ekwunife for her impactful representation. He highlighted the numerous projects Ekwunife attracted to the Ukwulu community, adding that they are numerous.
Mr. Anyaofu further noted that the Senator has fulfilled her promises to the community, urging all delegates from Ukwulu and by extension Dunukofia LGA to vote for Ekwunife on the day of the PDP primary election.
On his part, the beneficiary thanked God for using Ekwunife to provide shelter for his family. He said that he never knew that his family would own a house at this stage. Mr. Uzuegbunam narrated how shelter was their problem before Ekwunife provided succour, adding that not all politicians can do it.
Mr. Uzuegbunam further thanked Ekwunife for the gesture and prayed God to grant her victory in the upcoming election.
Speaking, the PDP Chairman Dunukofia LGA, Mr. Chigbo Dibiaezue assured the Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology of their support, stressing that by the grace of God Ekwunife will be the next governor. He described Ekwunife as “Madam Project”, thanking her for all the ongoing projects in the LGA.
Earlier before the blessing of the edifice, Ven. Chuks E. Onugha noted it was his first time to witness where a politician built a house for the less privileged, adding that he admires Ekwunife a great deal. He charged all to continue to pray for Ekwunife, noting that God’s plan will manifest in her life in her bid to become the first elected female governor of the state.
