Kidnapped Lawmaker Hon. Justice Azuka Found Dead at 2nd Niger Bridge

Kidnapped Lawmaker Hon. Justice Azuka

Tragedy has struck the Anambra State House of Assembly as the decomposing body of Hon. Justice Azuka, the lawmaker representing Onitsha North Constituency 1, has been discovered.

Security operatives recovered the remains at the 2nd Niger Bridge last night following the arrest of the suspects responsible for his abduction and murder. According to reports, the kidnappers led security personnel to the location where they dumped the body after their arrest.

Hon. Azuka was kidnapped on December 24, 2024, along Ugwunabakpa Road, Inland Town, Onitsha. Despite efforts to ensure his safe return, he was tragically killed before the breakthrough in investigations.

This incident explains the worsening security situation in Anambra State. The abduction of a sitting lawmaker in the heart of Onitsha, without an immediate rescue, raises serious concerns about public safety. Just this Tuesday night, reports indicated that kidnappers operated freely along Awka Road, firing multiple gunshots.

The growing wave of criminality must be urgently addressed. Security agencies, traditional institutions, and all relevant authorities must take decisive action to restore order and protect lives.

May the soul of Hon. Justice Azuka rest in peace.
