The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation announced today that it has successfully recovered funds that were held by consultants for several months, resulting in the delay of payments to N-Power beneficiaries. Mr. Akindele, the National Program Manager of N-Power, revealed this information following a crucial meeting with representatives of the N-Power beneficiaries.
“The funds, which were recovered yesterday, bring good news to our beneficiaries. You will receive your long-awaited payments soon,” stated Mr. Akindele, addressing the crowd of beneficiaries. He further confirmed that the payments for N-Power Beneficiaries Batch C, who have been owed for eight months, will commence shortly.
The recovery of these funds comes after intensive internal audits and investigations carried out by the ministry. The Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, has been tirelessly working to rectify irregularities within the N-Power program and other social investment initiatives.
“These irregularities had eroded the trust of the common man in the government’s ability to provide social safety nets. However, Dr. Betta Edu is taking decisive steps to address these issues and fulfill President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Mandate for Nigerians,” assured Mr. Akindele.
Among the irregularities noted was the failure to disburse monthly allowances to many beneficiaries, coupled with funds being withheld by an expired contract consultant managing the enrollment and payment system. The recovered funds will now facilitate the prompt payment of beneficiaries, resolving a major hurdle in the program’s implementation.
These efforts are part of the Ministry’s commitment to establishing a solid foundation for the Renewed Hope N-POWER initiative, which aims to extend its reach to 5 million young Nigerians. The National Program Manager urged patience from the youth, emphasizing that the restructuring was in their best interest and would pave the way for the program’s expansion to accommodate millions more.
“President Tinubu remains dedicated to eradicating poverty, and he will deliver on this promise,” added the National Program Manager, underscoring the government’s commitment to its citizens’ welfare.
