Man Arraigned in Lagos Court for Alleged Burglary and Theft Valued at N5 Million

In a legal development, a 44-year-old man, identified as Alli Yusuf, was presented before a Magistrate’s Court in the Yaba district of Lagos State on Friday. Yusuf is facing allegations of burglary and theft in connection with an incident involving the warehouse of Prince Chuks.

The accused, Alli Yusuf, stands accused of breaking into Prince Chuks’ warehouse and making off with two bales of clothing valued at a significant N5 million. The charges, brought against him by the police prosecutor, Thomas Nurudeen, substitute for Haruna Magaji, consist of three counts related to burglary and theft.

According to the prosecution’s account, the purported crime was committed on August 2, 2023, at Nnamdi Azikwe Street, situated within the jurisdiction of the Lagos Island area in Lagos State.

The charges levied against Yusuf read, “That you, Alli Yusuf, and others now at large, on August 2, 2023, at Nnamdi Azikwe Street, Lagos Island Area of Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did burgle the warehouse of one Prince Chuks and thereafter stole two bales of clothes, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 312 (b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

In response to the charges, the defendant entered a plea of not guilty.

Presiding over the proceedings, Magistrate Patrick Nwaka granted bail to Yusuf, setting the amount at N1 million along with the condition of providing two sureties who must meet the same bail sum.

The case has been scheduled for mention on September 1, 2023, allowing for further legal proceedings and deliberations on the matter.
