Match Prayer With Work For The Progress Of The State, Gov Soludo Tells Anglican Faithful

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has implored the spirit of ecumenism among all Christian faithful.

Governor Soludo gave the charge while addressing Anglican faithful at the Anglican Prayer Rally of Anambra State, APRAS, 2022 which held at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.

The prayer rally, with the theme, ‘Watch and Pray’, attracted the deputy governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Ernest Ezeajughi, head of service, Barrister Mrs Theodora Igwegbe, government officials, the nine Anglican Bishops in Anambra State and their wives, Joint Council of Knights, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, clergymen and their wives, among others.

It was convened to pray for security and peace in Nigeria.

Addressing the congregation, Governor Soludo urged Christians to match prayer with work for the progress of the state as he noted that his administration is going to make sure security is restored to the state.

He also called on the clergymen to use their positions to sensitize the people on health care and the need to have a good sense of responsibility.

Governor Soludo, advised the clergy to play down on wealth and donations in order to discourage unverified sources of wealth.

In his welcome address and sermon, Archbishop of the Province of Niger and Bishop of the Diocese of Awka, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim urged christians to return to God, saying the current situation has left the people anxious and as such Christians should be prayerful and watchful as only through God can salvation be assured.

He thanked the Soludo government for responding to the plight of flood victims and called for more intervention to mitigate the effects of the disaster.

A member of the Planning Committee, Venerable Ifeanyi Umeh, thanked all who made the event a success as he said it is a medium through which the Anglican faithful in Anambra State come together to pray as one family as he prayed God to lead everyone who came, back to their various destinations.

Prayer for the government officials , peace and progress in the state and nation at large featured at the event.
