Press statement

The attention of the state ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources Enugu state has been drawn to the ongoing destruction of the Milken hill breathtaking tourist site cum natural heritage.

Obviously these illegal activities have degraded the sheer beauty of our natural tourist attraction for which our dear state is known for and adored.

Most especially the mass destruction which took places in different parts of the hill, which include colliery hospital,New market road,Aria road hills, coal camp hills, obimo hills, and other hills in Enugu state.

The activities of the individuals involved could led to increased pollution and sedimentation in streams and rivers, clogging these waterways and causing declines in fish and other species. And degraded lands are also often less able to hold onto water, which can worsen flooding.

The ministry therefore warns the communities, the authorities involved and other interested person to desist from further plotting, allocating and destruction of the hill to forestall further damage to our natural heritage failure to adhere to this warning will attract severe state government action.
