Misappropriation of LG Funds: Arthur Eze leads opposition against Gov Obiano

Over the weekend, Engr Arthur Eze met with all the traditional rulers in Anambra state after meeting with them he addressed the press.

The Ukpo billionaire accused gov Obiano of recklessness, misapplication and misappropriation of LG funds. He threatened to sue Gov Obiano for bastardising the local government system, various constitutional breaches and mismanaging the monthly allocations from the federation account without commensurate development projects.

Engr Eze said the governor has refused to conduct election into the councils while not being forthright with the local government allocations accruing to the state and also denied the traditional rulers their legal five percent from the revenue allocation due to them from the council funds.

He told the traditional rulers that the governor is shortchanging them and refusing to pay them the five per cent of the local government allocation which is a national policy enacted under Abacha regime. He stated it is only Enugu state governor that pays this five percent to the traditional rulers in southeast.

He said, “what is Obiano doing with that money? He is not building industries, nothing. What is he doing with the money meant to keep our traditional institutions strong?”

He concluded by stating unequivocally that he would take Obiano to court. “In a few days’ time, I will take him to court to explain why he is not paying our traditional rulers that money. That’s wickedness.”

Engr Arthur Eze has reawakened the spirit of opposition in the state especially as we March into 2021 guber election. He has conscientised the traditional rulers on how the governor has withheld their five percent allocation that ought to come to them from LG allocation.
