An educationist and founder of Akande Tunde’s Movement, Dr. Kazeem Akande, has been conferred an humanitarian award by the National Association of Nigerian Students on Saturday.
The delegations of NANS, led by the NANS Coordinator of Southwest Zone D, Olatunji Adejuwon, with other executive members on behalf of NANS coordinator, presented the award to the humanitarian.
The presentation of the award to the humanitarian took place on Saturday during Espam-Formation University Cotonou, Benin Republic Convocation/Matriculation Ceremony.
While he was presenting the award to Dr Akande, Adejuwon explained that the educationist was honoured for his charismatic leadership, professional capabilities, selfless service and philanthropic contribution to the lives of Nigerian students at home and in the diaspora.
He said, ‘’Your contributions to education sector, through series of scholarship packages for undergraduate and postgraduate students, sponsorship of students’ academic studies both home and in the diaspora, have left an indelible mark in the sector.’’
‘’Dr Akande has proved himself as a selfless philanthropist, through his humanitarian gestures to students, and has proved his love for education over the years. On behalf of Nigerian students, we celebrate you, Sir.’’
Some selected delegates, including Deputy Coordinator of NANS Southwest Zone D, Alao John, Director of Public Relations NANS Southwest Zone D, Opefeyitimi Bosun, Deputy Director of Campus Affairs, Benin Republic, Oluwatosin Wilson, Director of Gender NANS Southwest Zone D, Raimot Adebowale and SUG President of College of Agriculture,
Moore plantation, Apata Ibadan, Uthman Abdul Azeez, poured encomiums on the humanitarian in their separate speeches.
In his response, Dr Akande, who also doubles as the Charter President, Rotary Club of Ibadan-Challenge, appreciated NANS for the recognition while he promised to continue to contribute to the development of education of the Nigerian youth.
