Senator Dr Ikemba Ifeanyi Ubah representing ndi Anambra south at the National Assembly has rejected the two apology letters written by Senator Chukwuka Utazi representing Enugu north senatorial zone. Utazi had on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at the floor of the Senate raised a point of Order alleging that a senator from southeast in a meeting of senate committee on Land Transport discouraged the committee from buying Innoson vehicles produced by Chief Innocent Chukwuma.
Utazi claimed that he read the news of what transpired at the meeting of the Senate Committee on Land Transport on the social media.
But on Sunday, July 12, 2020, an unknown person had written and circulated on the social media that senator Ifeanyi Ubah discouraged the land transport committee from procuring Innoson vehicles. And on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, Senator Chukwuka Utazi without verifying such fake news raised it at the Senate floor.
Angered by the antics of Utazi and his co-travellers, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah rose at the plenary and demanded that Utazi mention the name of the senator from southeast who discouraged the procurement of Innoson vehicles.
What surprised many is how a Senator could claim that he read what happened at the Senate Committee on social media and without reaching out to his colleagues to verify the authenticity of the news, he went to the plenary to embarrass authenticate such fake news.
It actually shows that Utazi was recruited by the enemies of senator Ubah to give face to their failed plots to tarnish his image.
Investigation shows that Ifeanyi Ubah is not a member of Land Transport Committee which Utazi referred to. It is possible that those who started the fake news from social media on Sunday, July 12, 2020 contracted Utazi to give it a national look in order to tarnish the towering image of Senator Ikemba Ifeanyi Ubah, cause crisis between him and his brother Innoson and derail his political career.
Senator Utazi who is now caught in trying to legitimize a social media falsehood has failed to substantiate his allegations. He issued an apology without clearly stating that he was mischievous in his action and thereafter withdraw his statement.
Senator Dr Ikemba Ifeanyi Ubah has rejected his apologizes in the two letters from Utazi and demanded that he do the needful and apologise properly.
Below is the rejection letter, Ubah sent to Utazi.
