Dr Chris Nwabueze Ngige, the Minister for Labour and Productivity refused to learn from the mistakes of other leaders in Anambra state who were used and dumped by gov Obiano.
Onwa Alor refused to learn from the experiences of Mr Peter Obi, Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah Senator Princess Stella Oduah OON Iyom Bianca Odimegwu Ojukwu, Senator Victor Umeh Hon Ekene Enefe Chief Cletus Ibeto and so many leaders in the state who were betrayed by gov Obiano after they helped him to win elections in 2013 and 2017 respectively.
Ngige was warned by he thought he was smart.
Few months ago, gov Obiano was in a serious quagmire. He started a political war with Prince Engr Arthur Eze. The Ukpo Prince used his contacts and wealth to secure the loyalty of Anambra monarchs on his side. The Oil magnate quickly secured an audience with Mr President. He planned to take the traditional rulers to Aso Villa for a solidarity visit, and again, to tell Mr President that gov Obiano is squandering the local govt funds and that he must account for it.
The Ukpo billionaire was billed to inform Mr President that gov Obiano was not paying the traditional rulers in Anambra state remitting the mandatory 5% of LGA allocation as approval during the Abacha regime.
The monarchs were with Arthur Eze and about 15 of them joined him to Abuja for the onslaught against Obiano.
A date was secured for Arthur Eze to visit Mr President with ndi Igwe from Anambra. That visit may compel the Presidency to ask the anti financial agencies to begin a formal probe of his administration. Obiano began to panick.
On the scheduled date, the Igwes andes in Abuja and they lodged at the Sheraton hotel. But something happened, Igwe MacAnthony Elibe Okonkwo, the traditional rulers of Alor was among the 15 traditional rulers that were in Abuja with Arthur Eze. Ngige never liked and has been doing everything humanly possible to dethrone him.
Knowing that gov Obiano was panicking over the visits and that he was not happy that the traditional rulers preferred to work with Arthur Eze against him, Ngige moved in to salvage the situation. He moved into the presidency. He used his contacts to stop ndi Igwe from accessing Mr President.
Onwa Alor succeeded. A lot happened. Ndi Igwe were stopped from seeing Mr President. They were asked to meet with the Chief of Staff to the President.
Agu Awka celebrated. The governor’s media aides were deployed to abuse and insult Arthur Eze and ndi Igwe . Ngige joined in the partying. He issued a statement and asked the governor to sanction Arthur Eze and the monarchs that accompanied him to Abuja.
Arthur Eze replied the attacks and took Ngige to the cleaners and it became a media war between Ukpo and Alor. Igwe Elibe and 12 other monarchs were quickly suspended.
Ngige saw an opening to fight Elibe who was seen at Alor as Igwe APGA govt. The Labour Minister rallied support of majority of ndi Alor to pick a new Igwe. Immediately after the coronation of Igwe Ebelechukwu Collins Chukwumesili (Ezediohamma III of Alor), the game changed. Obiano began to avoid Ngige and ndi Alor.
Those against Igwe Macanthony Chinedu Elibe Okonkwo believed that since Obiano dethroned the two suspended Igwes from Aguleri that he would reciprocate same in Alor as a favour to Ngige who helped him at the Presidency to block Arthur Eze from seeing Mr President.
But the APGA governor was true to himself. He is a use and dump. He did it to Senators Ifeanyi Ubah and Stella Oduah who helped him so much against all odds to break a record of 21/21 in 2017 governorship election.
Ngige Refused to learn from them. After the election of Igwe Evang Collins Chukwumesili, ndi Alor moved to the govt House Awka to receive the Certificate of Recognition, but lo and behold, the governor dodged them. He sent them to see the SSG. At the Office of the SSG, they were dribbled and another date fixed.
The hide and seek continued as the governor refused to see Ngige, (a whole minister of the federal republic of Nigeria). At one of the appointments, Ngige who was at the lodge to see Akpokue was asked to see the SSG. And the game continued.
On November 14, there was a rumour that the suspended Igwes would be reinstated and smartly a counter force called Madam and pressured her to ensure that the decision was rescinded immediately. Madam acted and the prepared announcement was withdrawn.
Ngige camp rejoiced.
But yesterday, it happened. Igwe Elibe was reinstated. He disappointed Ngige.
That’s their trade mark. But 2021 whoever that’s negotiating with them to help them elect an APGA successor will come back betrayed.
Ngige is the latest victim.
