As Nigeria celebrates 61 years Independence anniversary, the Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike,J.P in his congratulating message appreciated the founding fathers who fought for freedom from the claws of the colonial masters and called for sober reflections on the state of the nation.

Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike sounded that it is very unfortunate that the nation has not been able to consolidate the gains of the Independence; the people are still battling against economic survival and security challenges.

The sports philanthropist noted that the prevailing situation calls for sober reflection wherein all hands must be on deck to lift the country from the political and socio-economic doldrum.

Ejidike lamented that sports which would have been a veritable tools to cement the differences has not been fully exploited.

Sports can be used to meaningfully engage the youths, therefore, the government of Nigeria at al levels should come up with policies that would promote development of sports in Nigeria.

The security challenges ranging from insurgency, kidnapping, rituals and mayhems are like cankerworms ruining the country and giving it a bad name.

According to Nigeria Pillar of Sports, there is need to bury our differences having lived together for 61years. “That’s the only way to grow when the spirit of patriotism and nationalism prevail.
