Governor Chukwuma Soludo has called for unity of purpose to reclaim the old glory of Nigeria.
Governor Soludo was speaking at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka during a ceremony to mark the sixty-second independence anniversary celebration of the country.
The Governor, who spoke shortly after inspecting the parade mounted by the Nigeria Police, extensively elaborated on what the founding fathers of the nation achieved, even when crude oil was not the mainstay of the economy, saying that they would be turning in their graves at what their Nation has become.
As the election approaches, the Governor said that it is a time for soul searching and hinted that it is another opportunity for the Nigerian citizens to make informed choice for a brighter future.
Speaking on Anambra, six months after assumption of office, the Governor stated that his administration is working to address some key foundational issues related to the five pillars including security law and order, economic transformation, social agenda, governance, and environment.
He spoke against the culture of touting, called on Ndi Anambra to pay their fair share manifested as payment of tax, right attitude towards the environment, among others.
Top government officials attended the event which featured march past by different schools.
