Nigeria Pillar of Sports Congratulates New SWAN President

The Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu-Ejidike (JP), has congratulated the newly elected President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Isiah Benjamin, following his victory, at the just-concluded presidential election, which took place on Thursday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The congratulatory message was contained in a Press release, signed by the Chairman of the Office of the Nigeria Pillar of Sports (ONPS) Prince Ajide Olayioye, and made available to the press, on Friday.

Benjamin emerged winner, after polling a total of 16 votes, against his closest challenger, Sodiq Moyoyo, who garnered 6.

Ejidike, a former President of the Karate Federation of Nigeria, also admonished Benjamin to repay the confidence reposed in him by the majority of the delegates who voted for him, by working towards taking SWAN to the next level, via running an inclusive administration that will foster unity among the association’s members. He equally urged the new president to be magnanimous in victory, by extending a hand of fellowship to his opponents at the election, to keep the association as one and united family, so as for it to be able to play its role as the development gender setter, in the Nigerian sporting circle.

The Nnewi-born Sports philanthropist added that, Nigeria needs a robust, united and focused SWAN, to achieve great developmental strides, and take her rightful position among the comity of great sporting nations. Therefore, the new administration to be headed by Benjamin cannot afford not to rise above any perceived obstacle in his march towards greatness.

Chief Ejidike concluded concluded by assuring the new national executive of SWAN his support, just as he looks forward to seeing SWAN attaining greater heights under Benjamin’s rein.
