Nigeria To Review Its Relations With Indonesia

The Nigeria Ministry of foreign affairs says it will not accept any kind of ill treatment of Nigerians outside the country.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Geoffrey Onyeama disclosed this while briefing the press on Nigeria’s position on the assault against the Ambassador in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Dr. Onyeama said the ministry received the full and detailed report of the incident which he noted is unacceptable not minding who was assaulted saying there will be consultations at the highest level so as to decide what steps to take including a review of relations with Indonesia.

He urged government to take severe and appropriate sanctions against the immigration officials that were involved in the brazen act.

According to the Minister, partnering the media would showcase that the ministry is taking strong and necessary steps to assure Nigerians that their interests and that of Nigeria will be protected anywhere in the world.

He urged Nigerians to be patient and calm as appropriate steps will be taken when the Ambassador returns for full consultation since there is no justification for the assault whatsoever.
